My first post! So…for one year i am creating a junk food journal. I am definitely not the Saint of Healthy Eating- just a mom trying to raise awareness in hopes to reverse childhood obesity and diabetes while promoting the overall health of American children. Our pediatrician told me that 2 or 3 treats a week is an acceptable goal. :0
Our school year starts early. My two little girls and i were to attend “Meet The Teacher” to do the obvious and label their supplies and put them in their desks. There was a Welcome Back Social celebrated with a free breakfast in the cafeteria. I imagined doughnuts everywhere…like the ones pictured above that i served 8 little girls at our sleepover a couple of weeks ago. Of course, the school supplies i ordered (first time i did this and it was awesome!) were to be picked up in the cafeteria. Oh no, not the cafeteria! (Gulp.) (Fret.) With one girl in each hand, we made a beeline to the stage, picked up our two boxes and headed straight out. From my peripheral vision, i saw large white foam cups filled with something. It could have been fresh fruit parfaits for all i know, but i seriously doubt it. So how would i rate our first day in combat? Mission Accomplished.
